Register Now! Spring 2019 TLC - Access and Participation in the Thinking Classroom

Raylene Olinger

This spring SEED is proud to offer six courses which vary in content and format. In this semester-long Teacher Learning Community (TLC) offering from SEED @ NWBOCES, participants will learn practical strategies for empowering all students and supporting them to build a sense of agency as a learner. The role of rigorous, authentic learning experiences will be defined as we examine ways to foster a mindset for learning in all students. Participants will explore intentional ways of scaffolding experiences to help all students acquire knowledge and skills while building metacognitive structures to support them in constructing meaning and applying what they have learned.  Our end goal as teachers is to help students become confident and competent learners and to see themselves as such. We seek to design classroom environments and the learning that can make this a reality.

Access and Participation is a three-credit (45 contact hour) course.  Two in-person days are required on January 17 and May 10th in addition to a virtual meeting on March 6th.  The flexible schedule of the remainder of this course includes online resources and discussion board, classroom implementation and reflection as well as one-one coaching.

If you are interested in exploring ways to support every student in your classroom to take charge of their own learning, this course is for you! Please register at https://nwboces.gosignmeup.com/
