I loved reading this article as it confirms many of the things I am already doing to engage families and support students. I like the idea of quick feedback to parents, not long lectures about inappropriate behavior. At the beginning of each school year, I set the tone by sending every single parent a positive and encouraging email about their child. It shows that I have made a connection with their student, and I am already getting to know them. I also inundate parents with videos and little stories about their students. This is the best part of being a teacher, getting to share with parents what their little people are doing when they are in the educational and social/emotional environment.
