This set contains all of the resources used in the spring 2019 TLC Access and Participation in the Thinking Classroom.


Guiding Question: How can I foster a mindset for learning in all students?

The purpose of this activity is to explore ideas that could lead to a classroom culture that will engage all students in developing a learning mindset. The ideas will range from knowing each of our students as learners, to thinking about the role of expectations for our students and how to create a culture that provides equitable opportunities for students to engage in rigorous learning.  


Guiding Question: How can I support all students as they acquire new knowledge and skills in my classroom?

In this activity we will explore strategies that support students in their learning, specifically as they engage in acquisition of new knowledge and skills.


Guiding Question: How can I support students as they construct meaning?

In this activity teachers will examine ways that they can support students to make meaning from their learning. The resources will support teachers in thinking about engaging students in discussion, metacognition and reflection.   


Guiding Question: How can I instill a sense of agency in students, empowering all as learners?

In this final activity teachers will examine specific ways of supporting students as they build agency as learners. Our end goal as teachers is to help students become confident and competent learners and to see themselves as such. The design of the classroom environment and the learning therein can add to or detract from this mission.
